I started my counted canvas project, Air by Toni L. Figgins. The design works up quickly. There are Smyrna Cross stitches, staggered oblong cross stitches, oblong cross stitches, and diagonal hungarian stitches so far.
The whole design is made up of four points. This is one of them nearly completed. I am still waiting for one of the metallic threads to arrive in the mail. Once I finish working one point I turn the canvas and repeat until all four are done.
I started working on Lavendar & Lace “Fairy Grandmother” in early July and finished on 19 Oct 08. My mother’s birthday is in November so I finished a good month ahead of time. Now I have to get it framed. Now I can work on something just for me. I have had Chatelaine’s “Watergarden” on my lapframe for a while now, and only had a little bit stitched. So I am going to work on that more frequently. I am also going to work on “Air”, a counted canvas design that I just got the materials for.
Our guild recognizes that the internet is playing a larger role in our stitching lives and as such has been planning a website. We are still in the process of adding the content, but it’s a great start for us.
We’ll be featuring a free pattern every month, and this month’s pattern is a counted canvas christmas ornament (with stitching and finishing instructions). We have a page for stitching hints and tips, and currently have a document about various ornament finishing techniques. Our guild newsletter Stitches will also be available (through the events & activities section); we publish it four times a year and going forward we’ll be keeping a year’s worth on the site.
Town Clock Stitchers’ October/November program is a counted canvas heart ornament and we’ll be posting progress pictures from start to finish.
I hope you can stop by and visit our site, we don’t have a guest book yet, but if you could send an e-mail and let us know what you think we would love the feedback.
I am going to be trying my hand at canvas work. A fellow TCS member lent me a pattern she thought I would enjoy stitching as a first piece. The pattern name is “Air” by Toni L. Figgins c1995. The Rainbow Gallery colours are: Raspberry (Encore), Copper (Fyre Werks), Cherry (Neon Rays), Wild Rose (Pebbly Perle), Rose Pink Dark (Splendor), and Bronze (Tiara). The mono canvas is black. I can hardly wait! I’ll do the floss toss once the threads and canvas arrive from Nordic Needle and post the pic.
